As a responsible travel company Travel Counsellors is pleased to be working with the charity Excellent Development to offer our customers the facility to quickly and easily calculate and offset the carbon emissions from their air travel if they choose to do so and help make a real difference to the lives of people in Kenya.
The initiative will enable farmers in Africa to create development through the transformation of their environment. Soil and water conservation has been identified as the key factor in mitigating the impacts of climate change in Africa in which trees play a major role. Using the link from our website, you can see a map which allows you to quickly calculate the number of trees needed to offset the carbon emissions from a journey and make a relevant payment by credit card.
The trees, which cost £3 each, are planted by farmers in semi arid Kenya, where they improve the health and income of local people by helping absorb carbon dioxide, prevent soil erosion and help absorb rainwater, while also providing fuel, food, and building from their wood, leaves and fruit.
Travel Counsellors recently donated £10,000 to Excellent Development to fund a project in rural Kenya enabling the Mbuani Secondary School to complete a sand dam and school water tank. The community will now have access to clean water helping them with their sustainable development.
