Set on the world-famous Crane Beach, The Crane Hotel is the Caribbean's first resort hotel. Built in 1887 and fully restored and expanded in the 20th century, this truly unique property combines elegance, old-world charm and incredible natural beauty with a romantic sense of seclusion. The hotel is located on the South Eastern coast of Barbados and offers two types of accommodation; the Resort Apartments and the Private Residences. Resort Apartments are the original and traditional part of the hotel, offering guests a taste of the historic Caribbean. The apartments are oceanfront and feature hardwood floors and distinctive high ceilings. The Private Residences include private plunge pools and striking coral stone walls. Many of the guest rooms offer wraparound balconies with wonderful ocean views. Boasting a multi-pool complex situated on the cliff side complete with waterfalls and infinity edges, the hotel also offers one of the best beaches on the island for swimming. A current expansion of the resort is under way to build a full service spa, tennis courts and village with several eateries, bars and a fitness centre. The hotel currently offers three restaurants including an al fresco restaurant specialising in fresh seafood and Zen, a contemporary venue serving Thai and Japanese cuisine.
