Overview
Shamwari is an award-winning, malaria-free game reserve, conserving a vanishing way of life with 5 eco-systems to support plant, animal and bird life. It is the ultimate African adventure and conservation effort coupled with responsible tourism. The 20,000 hectare reserve is situated in verdant bush along the Bushmans River, halfway between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, forming a natural extension to the famous Garden Route.
Accommodation is offered in several separate lodges, all some distance from each other:
Long Lea Manor is the historical manor house and offers warm and comfortable accommodation in a courtyard environment and the cosy bar and restaurant encourage guests to mingle and share their bush experience. Long Lea Manor consists of 10 suites and 5 luxury rooms.
Eagles Crag offers very private, luxurious and secluded lodge accommodation in the heart of the bush.
Bayethe offers individual private tented accommodation ideal for those seeking a true bush experience.
Riverdene Lodge - is ideal for families and offers a very communal environment for all those who stay there.
Activities from all loadges include morning and evening game drives, walking safaris, guided nature walks and bird watching. Guests receive personal attention from their assigned ranger for the duration of their stay. The reserve also features a spa offering a selection of beauty treatments.
