Many holidaymakers think that Bora Bora is the most beautiful island in the Pacific. It has a stunning turquoise lagoon and is the most famous of the Leeward Islands. You’ll hear people call it the Pearl of the Pacific throughout your holiday. Bora Bora is about an hour by plane from Papeete, the capital of Tahiti. Its airport is on a palm-fringed islet so you climb aboard a launch to make the transfer to the main island. Like the other islands of French Polynesia, Bora Bora is a volcanic island that rose out of the sea millions of years ago. Holidays in Bora Bora are memorable for the tropical beauty of the lagoon and the island’s white sandy beaches.
