Alanya is a modern holiday resort on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. It’s famous for its sandy beaches, a well-preserved fortress and a harbour that’s dominated by the remains of the town’s Red Tower. Alanya has two main beaches. East beach is miles long. The west Cleopatra’s beach is quieter but with a much steeper drop into the sea. You’ll find a wide range of accommodation, plenty of shops and harbour side restaurants and, of course, a lively nightlife on a holiday in Alanya. Unusual local sights include the Damlata Cave with strange rock formations, boat trips to the local rocky coves and the attractive scenery of the Dim Cay River.
