Many would-be holidaymakers think that the Bahamas is one single small island. In fact there are seven hundred islands in the Bahamas, 750 miles from the south tip of Florida. There are two celebrated sides to a holiday in the Bahamas - the James Bond world of glamour and luxury, and the cruise ship stop-off world of quick visits for shopping and rum tasting. Coming to the fore though are the Out islands also known as the Family islands. These islands are all rimmed with talcum powder beaches and they appeal to visitors looking for a simpler, less touristy Bahamas holiday with an eco-sensitive edge.
