Also written as Cephalonia, this Greek island has few archeological remains but caters well for holidaymakers who like a happening nightlife and those who prefer a quieter stay. Kefalonia is the largest island in the group known as the Ionian Islands, off the west coast of Greece. These islands are fertile and characterized by olive groves and cypress trees. The area around the pretty port of Fiskardo in the north of Kefalonia has quiet hills and coves and looks across the straits to the neighbouring island of Ithaca. Lassi and its neighbouring resorts on the south coast are livelier.
