Menorca is a quieter and smaller island than its better known big sister Mallorca. Unlike Mallorca however, Menorca doesn’t suffer too much from an annual summer package holiday invasion. So peaceful holidays are easy to find in Menorca. You’ll find small, quiet villages and towns, some sandy beaches and pretty coves which make the island a very good option for family holidays. Menorca is the second largest Ballearic island.

Best avoided by anyone who thinks Menorca is a smaller version of Mallorca. It's not.

The Balearic Islands are part of Spain. Spain is a full member of the European Union. EU citizens do not need a visa to enter Spain. Drinking alcohol on the street is not allowed in the Ballearics. There are fines for breaking this law. Smoking is not allowed in public places and is also punishable by fines.

The weather in Menorca is Mediterranean with mild winters and hot summers. Average maximum temperatures in June are 24 C/ 75 F and 28 C / 82F in August.

It takes around two hours to fly to Menorca from London.

There's plenty of choice if you want to hire a car.
