My Travel Diaries
Hua Hin is located on the sunrise coast of the Gulf of Thailand around 190km south of Bangkok, and our journey took about 2.5 hours by road.
There are several championship golf courses to choose from all within a short drive of the town. The resort we chose had many excellent hotels situated along the lovely beach and some of these had top class spas.
During the evening we enjoyed wandering through the town's nightmarket. Here we found there are real bargains to be had; silk cushion covers, scarves and pashminas in a dazzling array of colours, wooden and Thai silk gifts of all descriptions, clothes, sandals and wonderful aromas from the food stalls.
When our feet were aching from too much shopping and sightseeing we treated ourselves to a relaxing foot massage.. for a very reasonable price.
Eating out was a real treat, especially for those who love all types of fish and seafood, as there are numerous open air restaurants overlooking the sea where we enjoyed a delicious meal cooked with the wonderful spices used in Thai cooking.
We found that getting around is easy and inexpensive with an assortment of taxis and Tuk Tuks, the three wheeled open sided vehicle to be found all over Thailand. While we were on holiday we took an excursion to the floating market at Damnoen Saduak and a visit to the historic railway station which is also interesting.
Pa La U Waterfall about 60km west of Hua Hin in the Kaeng Krachan National Park was also a wonderful highlight and an excellent day trip, here you can see lots of local wildlife and birds.
A truly memorable holiday with many fascinating sights.
