We arrived in the Maldives after an overnight flight from Gatwick, as we approached the airport the pilot told us to look out of the window where we could see small coral fringed islands appearing.

After landing we were transferred to the seaplane departure point where we boarded our 16 seater for the 50 minute flight to our Island. We were fascinated to see that the pilots were flying barefoot. The seaplane flies fairly low over the Islands which look fantastic from the air, small tropical paradises fringed by white beaches and turquoise sea.

After our short flight we landed close to our Island resort and were then transferred by boat to the hotel. On arrival we were given a lovely welcome with cold drinks and refreshing towels before being shown to our room.

The rooms on the Island were Beach Bungalows, very cool with efficient air conditioning and a lovely bathroom which was ‘outside’ so that you could shower in the evening looking up at the stars. A door led from the room directly onto a deserted white sandy beach with two sun loungers reserved for us, and there was plenty of shade to be found under the trees.

We spent a very relaxing week snorkelling, swimming, reading books and just chilling out. Diving, water sports or fishing trips were available, and you could also book a picnic on a small deserted Island. We also treated ourselves to a wonderful massage in the Spa.

The food was fantastic with a good mix of Indian and Western dishes with plenty of seafood, and a great array of tropical fruits.

I would recommend the Maldives to anyone looking for a Honeymoon or holiday to celebrate a special occasion as well as someone looking for a completely relaxing break. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our holiday!
