My Travel Diaries
I know it's a long time since I went to Florida. I do plan on going again when my daughter is a little older. When I went to Florida with my husband they did not have Animal Kingdom and Universal Studios was probably a quarter of the size it is now.
It was still a fantastic destination and suitable for all the family - old and young. You do need to go for at least two weeks and depending on how much you do, you may need a few days to rest at the end or even have another holiday to chill out.
We found that the best way to enjoy Orlando and the theme parks was to have a full day out followed by a relaxing morning by the pool to enjoy a bit of relaxation (and rest your feet). There is so much to do and see. We stayed in a hotel in Kissimmee and next time I go I will stay in the International Drive Area. Kissimmee was lovely but not much was walking distance. On International Drive there are hotels near shopping malls and restaurants.
We did enjoy eating breakfast outside of the hotel in a local diner (this was like a diner out of the 'HAPPY DAYS' programme and was excellent value for money.
With all the theme parks you can enjoy simply walking around, experiencing thrill rides, seeing a variety of wildlife and animals and enjoying one of the shows. Outside of the Disney Theme Parks you can also enjoy a trip to Gatorland, Kissimmee's Old Town, Kennedy Space Centre or swim with Dolphins at Discovery Cove just to name a few.
Orlando also caters for all budgets, there are excellent priced hotels, the Disney themed hotels or villas with 2,3,4 or 5 bedrooms to choose from.
