I haven't been to Tenerife for 18 years so really didn't know what to expect on this visit. I was pleasantly surprised. Tenerife and many hotels haven't changed (although been updated) it was a fantastic destination. I took my nine year old daughter and we stayed just at the back of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. Despite this being a busy area it was fine for the time of year we went. To be honest it's nice to have plenty going on and the nightlife is all centred around the Veronica's complex which can easily be avoided.

The beaches were great and we did the trip to Aqualand to see the dolphins and we also visited Jungle Park which again is great for kids.

There are loads of places to eat to accommodate all budgets. We stayed on an all inclusive board basis which is great for families as everything is included - drinks and all meals including snacks. We did still eat out a couple of times a week but if you are travelling on a budget or travelling with children this is a great option.

Los Cristianos is a great combination of new and old. With it's old streets and numerous shops you can spend hours walking round. The promenade is lovely, you can walk for miles along the front from Los Cristianos and all along Playa De Las Americas - the two resorts are linked and next to each other, there are also children’s play areas dotted along the front for the kids.

We are going again this year - 2010 but are combining a stay in the north of the Island with the South. This will enable us to have plenty of time to visit Loro Parque in the North which we are all looking forward to. We will also be trying the other water park on the south - Siam Park.
