Zighy Bay-Oman

Dubai's neighbouring country Oman is a fast developing tourist attraction which, in November 2012, I was fortunate to experience when I spent four days at the exclusive 'Six Senses' retreat at Zighy Bay.

We arrived in Dubai on an overnight Emirates flight and were met by the Six Senses representative who dealt with our luggage and immigration procedures before driving us across the desert in a private, luxurious, air conditioned four by four vehicle. this made the two hour journey extremely enjoyable and relaxing.

The isolated Zighy Bay retreat is reached by a short trip across a rugged mountain range to reach a viewing area overlooking the bay. Guests can then opt to continue in the land vehicle or be met and flown into the resort on a 'para-glider'.

On arrival at the retreat a very short, informal registration process takes place while you are provided with refreshing towels and a cool fruit drink. There you also meet your own private butler who will look after all of your requirements during your stay. The butler will convey you to your own, very private rustic villa which contains all modern conveniences including wi- fi for those who may wish to keep in touch with the outside world.

The next four days were spent relaxing in our own small but extremely pleasant pool within the courtyard. Sun beds and protected, shady outside lounges are also provided to ensure all guests have the opportunity to relax in their own private space. The private beach and large outdoor pool are also available close by for those who want to indulge in a little more exercise. Six Senses specialise in numerous spa, relaxation and rejuvenation packages which would suit all tastes.

Meals can either be taken in the peace and quiet of your own villa or at the romantic, informal and rustic restaurant situated within the hotel grounds. Other exclusive dining opportunities are available at the mountain top viewpoint overlooking the bay or at the top of the tower within the hotel.

I would highly recommend Zighy Bay to my customers who are seeking an exclusive and informal retreat from the pressures of the World but where very high standards of customer care are the norm. On this occasion I linked my holiday with an addittional week in the busy, futuristic city of Dubai.
