Royal Princess

On June 8th I was part of a small group of Travel Counsellors who had been invited to a special travel agents event on board Princess Cruises’ newest ship Royal Princess. Royal Princess was in Southampton for a few days prior to her naming ceremony when The Duchess of Cambridge will be officially named as the ship's godmother.

If you are a regular with Princess Cruises you will straight away recognise various features on board such as Sabatinis, The Piazza, The Sanctuary, Horizon Court, Princess Theatre, Vista Lounge and much more.

Royal Princess is very much a typical Princess ship but also a modern contemporary ship. It’s very spacious and there’s lots of deck space with different levels to find a place to sunbathe including the adult only Santuary with private cabanas which becomes a night time venue and the Movies Under the Stars up on deck 16.

There are various eating and dining options including the three main dining rooms and a range of other places to either get a light bite or snack, tapas, seafood, ice cream, pizzas or cocktails - so much to offer that you can choose from.

The Piazza is particularly stunning; this really is the heart of the ship. This spans three decks and is the perfect place for a drink or cocktail in the Bellini Bar or some shopping or just to sit and watch the world go by and for enjoying a choice of entertainment throughout the day and into the night time.

One new feature is the Sea Walk which is a glass-bottom walk way on deck 16, 28 feet over the sea. It has quite a view or you can just watch others walk on it from the Sea View bar.

As you would expect there is a wide range of cabins to suit all budgets from a standard inside cabin up to luxurious suites, Royal Princess can boast more than 1000 balcony cabins.

Royal Princess is a great addition to the Princess fleet offering the same high standard of services on board. If you would like to try a cruise yourself on Royal Princess, let me know. The ship will be in the Mediterranean this summer followed by the winter in the Caribbean and in 2014 her twin sister Regal Princess will join the fleet.

I have attached a few photographs of Royal Princess to show you a little of what she has to offer.
