From Wedding to Wanderlust; Designing your Dream Honeymoon

For those loved-up couples soon tying the knot, the wedding day offers that golden glow of the light at the end of a seemingly endless, and let’s be honest, stressful tunnel of planning. Your wedding day becomes your Shangri-La, the ecstasy of a day bursting at the seams with love, joy and celebration with all those held dear. But as the party winds down, the curtain calls, what next? What adventure first awaits in your newly married lives together? The Honeymoon! Most 2022 weddings involved 1-2 years’ planning* and with so much involved honeymoon planning occasionally began “once the Wedding was out of the way”. For most couples though, the excitement of having an adventure on the horizon is even more exciting than the Wedding as it is the first celebration just for the newly-weds. Here are some expert tips to bring your vision to life:

Setting a budget This is the boring but critical part! Although waking up over-water in Bora Bora and hiking the Virunga mountains of Rwanda to find gorillas are once-in-a-lifetime experiences, they come with a hefty price tag. With the wedding to consider too, working out that “magic number” is crucial. Gift lists offer a fantastic means for loved ones to contribute toward memorable experiences or even flight upgrades to set off in style!

The early bird catches the worm Planning ahead reaps many rewards; from “earlybird” accommodation offers, access to the best flight fares and greater availability throughout. This means couples have the best opportunity to secure their #1 choices and all at the best rates!

Consider “shoulder months” Whilst everyone wants to visit their idyllic destination in its perfect season, travelling during “shoulder months” means travellers can enjoy their dream experiences in a season just outside peak times, taking advantage of significantly reduced prices while avoiding low season weather.

Consider a Mini-moon Peak wedding season is August-September however preferred Honeymoon destination, the Maldives, experiences its wetter months around this time. So why not book a short break after the wedding, before taking on a far-flung adventure when the time is right? Plus it means two holidays!

Enjoy the ride Planning your Honeymoon is something to truly get excited about. From the rush of a Safari, luxuriating in paradise, diving coral reefs or indulging in local cuisines, the world is quite literally your oyster! Guidebooks remain fantastic tools however social media boasts a wealth of inspiration so grab some fizz together and tuck into the feast of “content” out there! Starting with exploring the whole world through to those romantic details, a honeymoon is a truly magical journey and one which begins from the moment you open the door to the world of possibilities.
