My wife and I have been watching a tv series called Secrets of the World's Most Expensive Cruise Ship on channel 5, featuring Regent Seven Seas Cruises. We both been very intrigue by this cruise line, As we been on several other cruise lines except for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. What makes Regent Seven Seas Cruises different is it all inclusive which means drinks.excursions,24 hour room service, gratuities, laundry, speciality restaurants are all included. We found a cruise around South America for 7 nights .We flew with Lufthansa from London Heathrow Via Frankfurt.Transitting via Frankfurt which was very easy. Once we arrived at Rio De Janeiro after 12 hours and 25 minute flight from Frankfurt .We took a taxi to our hotel staying at Windsor Guanabara which was 1 hour ride from the airport depending on traffic costing around 98.00 Real. When we arrived at the hotel our room wasn’t ready, As check in isn’t until 15.00 hrs. Once we checked in, we were given room number 2116 on 21st floor. Avoid this room, As its near to the lift which is very noisy. A tip would be to book the room night before, if early arrival at destination, To avoid waiting around until check in time. The hotel was in a good location, and walking distance to the port 20-25 minutes. The hotel offered a good choice of breakfast buffet choice hot and cold dishes. It has a swimming pool, Sauna & Fitness centre. We only stayed 1 night, As our cruise was the next day. We had been to Rio previously on another cruise, and really enjoyed the city. A word of caution avoid some areas at night time for safety reasons. The next day, We were really excited about boarding Regent Seven Seas Voyager. Some ship facts it takes 698 guests,349 suites and 9 decks, tonnage 42.363.We arrived at Rio port at 11.00, where we checked in for our cruise, which was a very smooth process as we done most of the process online to save time. After we checked in, We then went to lunch at La Veranda, which was buffet style, but the staff served the food which I thought was a better way of serving the food with less wastage. Our suite was ready by 2pm.we had suite number 878 category C-Penthouse suite on deck 8, which was at the back of ship. It had large balcony space and the suite was lovely with a spacious bathroom and lounge area. We were greeted with fruit, canapes, well stocked fridge with drinks including beers, soft drinks and champagne in our suite. Our butlers came and introduce themselves to us. They were both very lovely. After check into our cabin, we decided to take advantage of the free bus to Copacabana mall, As Becky my wife hadn’t been there before, I thought it would be a great opportunity for her to visit. Whilst at Copacabana ,we went to the shopping centre where I purchase a few Havana’s flip flops for my family.Havanas are made in Brazil, and are very cheap to purchase. Copacabana beach was very busy, with plenty of people playing beach volley ball. It did rain whilst at Copacabana beach. Thinking we need to be heading back to the ship before 6pm. We headed back to the ship for our sailing departure at 9pm. The next day we arrived at Ilha Grande where there are no cars on this island. It really nice and peaceful. With Regent Seven Seas cruises you can choose a free excursion for each port that you visit. We chose historical and cultural walking tour around the island which lasted 3 hours. The tour started from the pier through the Ilha Grande state park, Then church, Visitor Centre, The guardhouse,Preta Beach. Trail to aqueduct before returning to village Abraao village then pier.Ilha Grande has a rainforest with some beautiful beaches. We booked onboard our cruise speciality restaurant called Chartreuse which serves French cuisine. It was lovely food.
