My Travel Journals
Every year we go on holiday with another family. We had heard so much about Menorca being a family orientated island that we would thought we would give it a go.
We found a property in a brochure called the Sa Caleta Playa apartments in Sa Caleta. It was a fairly small complex compared to what we had been used to but there was enough going on that our children would be occupied.
The flight to Menorca was fairly short as you don't want to go to far with young children. The transfer again was only an hour.
If you didn't fancy the pool, there was a small beach a mere 50 metres away, again with a bar serving drinks and snacks. It had sunbeds on and was never over crowded. The sea was lovely and warm.
There was a kids club which if you wanted to would take your children off for the day, they were also around at night for the childrens discos. As I said before the complex was full but not over run by children. Every night there was entertainment. If the children were in bed you could sit on your balcony and watch or listen to it.
There were a couple of wonderful restaurants which we regularly visited. One that was built into the rock overlooking the sea. It had a diving board built into it which people would come and use, the water was so clear you could sit and watch the fish whilst eating your dinner. Any scraps went into the sea for the fish!.
We did take a boat trip out one day which took us around the island to secluded beaches which you could only reach by boat. The beaches we went to were beautiful. They cooked fresh paella on the boat (or pizza for those that didn't eat paella) which you would sit on the edge of the beach and eat. There is truly a lot of exploring to be done in and around Menorca but not with children. Although they enjoyed the boat trip, it was a long day for them.
The resort of Sa Caleta is very quiet with limited activities but that suited us fine. I would definitely recommend it and will go back at some point in the future.
