My Travel Diaries
My children and I decided that we wanted to discover skiing. The transfer was informative and as we had booked late our lift passes and ski school, were booked on the coach. It was a 1.5 hour transfer from Genoa, and it all seemed uphill!!
The hotel was a three star, half board. Typically Tyrolean and very welcoming to my two children and I. It had a small pool room and bar where the kids could roam and at last some adult conversation and not searching for lost ski gear!!
The food was a buffet each night for the starter and a choice of main meal, by the third night our table of three had grown to 5, by the next night it was 12!!!
The children were beginners and a little nervous of what the slopes would hold for them. How on earth would I manage with all this equipment? After some adventures we reached ski school.
NO KIDS!!. The ski instructor was gorgeous (but taken, ho hum!) and he soon had us all on the snow and laughing almost as much as we fell over. Somehow he made it all click and the snow became fun as opposed to something to fear or fight against. I was in my element - beautiful scenery, crisp fresh air, excellent company, fabulous mountain restaraunts and away from home and work.
The kids and I loved it, skiing was a real joy. Wonderful adventures every day. As skiers we were never short of comradeship and conversation and made firm friends with whom I am still in touch.
For beginners the slopes were challenging and enthralling. For the better skiers and advanced maybe I will be able to comment one day!! Long wide red and blue runs, running into the more challenging blacks! Even though we travelled at Easter, the queues were never too long.
All in all a perfect family holiday, friendly and fun. Although the food could have been more varied at the end of a day on the slopes the wine and anything hot were welcome!!!
Can't wait till our next snow trip.
