About Me
Hello my name is Gerard and I’m based in Buxton, Derbyshire the Gateway to the Peak District and home of the famous Buxton Mineral Water. My wife Maggi and I have two children - one son Teague (16) and daughter Sorcha (13). My hobbies/interests include - walking, running (now depending on who is looking it can seem like I am walking quickly), rugby (Sale Sharks Family Season Ticket Holders and also an avid Munster rugby fan due to my family background), chess, theatre, world music, and fitness training.
I have more than 23 years experience working in travel in a variety of roles. Ten years as an Adventure Tour Guide and in Operations and Marketing for one of the leading Adventure Tour companies in the UK. Elsewhere as a Tour Manager for a UK Luxury Tour operator involving small groups and bespoke itineraries over a period of 11 years.
My experience overseas as a Tour Guide/Leader has seen me living in areas including Egypt, India, Turkey, Spain, Guatemala, Jerusalem & the Holy Land.
Whilst also leading trips throughout the Middle East, South & Central America, Central & South East Asia, China and Hong Kong.
Special destinations whilst leading groups include North Korea, Bhutan, Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal, Iran, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Cuba , Venezuela, and Mali.
My family and I have travelled in India, Costa Rica, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Bali, New Zealand, and South Africa. For those who are thinking of long haul family vacations hopefully our experience can be of help.
Whether it be short haul or long haul destinations, short duration or long duration, adventure or luxury OR travel itineraries with both elements, I do feel that I can personally add to your experience.
