My Travel Diaries
Having visited many Caribbean Islands previously this was my first trip to Antigua. We had an excellent flight to the Island from Manchester with BMI and arrived remarkably refreshed.
After a 40 minute transfer from the airport we arrived at the Verandah Resort and Spa and met with a friendly welcome. Once we were checked in it was a transfer by golf buggy to our Suite.
The Verandah has only be open since October 2007 and is a new 'Eco' resort. The suite itself was huge with a generous size bathroom and a small kitchenette. The patio doors opened onto a spacious patio area and amazing views of the ocean.
Our experience at the hotel was wonderful from the staff to dining and all the facilities it offers. I would say that the Verandah does appeal to families and couples alike and I would not hesitate to return here.
Whilst in Antigua we did try to see and sample some local culture! If you do go Shirley Heights is a must especially at sunset, the views are fantastic and really something to remember.
I also enjoyed the Catamarran trip which circumnavigated the Island, a totally amazing day and an opportunity to see some of the most amazing beaches. Did you know that Antigua has over 350 beaches!
English Harbour is also another lovely place to visit and before you leave a morning's shopping in the Duty free shops in St.Johns is a must.
Overall a lovely holiday on a beautiful Island with very friendly people. I wouldn't hesitate to return!
