To escape the Christmas madness we decided to travel to Egypt for a week. We stayed in the resort of Taba Heights at the Intercontinental Hotel.

If you want a week relaxing on a beach with great weather - this is the destination for you. Really not much to do in the resort, but there is a golf course! Also a good selection of excursions - quad biking, boat trips, day trip to Petra or Cairo to name a few. Nothing in the way of nightlife, besides hotel entertainment.

The hotel is set directly on the beach, with views across to Jordan. Great snorkelling, and scuba diving is also available. There is also a jogging trail which runs along the beach front, past all the hotels.

Taba Heights Hotels offer a dine-around programme, so if you are on half board or all inclusive you can choose from various restaurants in the other hotels or there are a few in 'uptown' Taba, you then receive a credit voucher towards the meal - there is a free shuttle bus, called a taf taf, which runs around the resort making it easy to get from one hotel to another.

What more can I say - we had a fab time!
