I have always, always wanted to go to Mauritius and was delighted when it was decided that we should visit in November 2007.
Lucky enough to fly with British Airways in their world traveller plus cabin the journey was very comfortable and we arrived relatively refreshed early in the morning at our hotel for the next 14 days - the Heritage Resort & Spa. We were 'WOWED' from the moment we arrived - the all inclusive package was excellent and included premium brand drinks, daily golf if you wanted to play, a daily treatment in the spa, an excursion into their nature reserve, water sports and the quality of food on offer was the best we could have wished for.....there was an extra charge if you wanted to dine on lobster.
Now, the beach - fantastic, everything I had imagined, soft white sands with plentiful sunloungers for all, the sea is shallow and gently slopes; the whole area is protected by a reef and the snorkelling area that we expereinced was very lively...
My room was very comfortable and situated in a block on the 3rd floor so benefited from both a garden and sea view. Wonderful!
We found the people are a joy; so friendly and genuinely welcoming. Our hotel operated it's own 'school', staff are trained on site and all seemed very pleased with the care that they received; my point, happy staff, happy guests!
We had a truly enjoyable holiday and I would recommend Mauritius to golf lovers; the course is excellent. Definately for romantics; so suitable for honeymooners, those who enjoy being pampered in the spa and anybody who just enjoys barefoot luxury...
