Discover Western Australia with Seabourn’s Expedition Cruises

We love Seabourn's Expedition cruises for its all-inclusive sailings combining incredible levels of onboard luxury with epic adventures led by 24-person expedition teams consisting of wildlife experts, scientists, historians and naturalists – all committed, through their talks and activities, to helping you make the very most of your trip to some of the world's most remote, awe-inspiring destinations.

Discover Western Australia with Seabourn’s Expedition Cruises

And ‘Expedition’ doesn’t have to mean cold water! These once-in-a-lifetime adventures invite you to really get under the skin of a whole array of fascinating regions thanks to their submarine, Zodiac, snorkelling, scuba-diving and kayaking, which between them might take you past cliffs teeming with seabirds, along jungle rivers, alongside stately icebergs, close to tropical coral islands, and near to reef walls and underwater ice-cliffs.

And as well as wildlife spotting – think everything from whales to polar bears and walruses – you’ll get the chance to explore on land, with hiking locations ranging from Viking ruins to ancient Incan sites and indigenous Amazon villages.

We’ve shone a spotlight on the cruise line’s journey around The Kimberley in the northwestern corner of Australia – a unique and truly awe-inspiring landscape with a rich culture and history in which to immerse yourself.

One of the world’s last wild frontiers, with mountain peaks, savannah plains, waterfalls, rainforest, chasms and canyons carved into the local red rock, this region is more than three times the area of England. Seabourn invites you to get up close to its natural wonders, including islands rich in birdlife, coral reefs thronged by sharks and dugongs, and rivers inhabited by crocodiles.

You’ll also dive into the local culture of towns such as Kimberley, Broome and Wyndham, with highlights including cave art and artifacts of the Aboriginal people whose home this has been for thousands of years. We particularly love Swift Bay with its Wandjina cave art and untouched natural coastline with fabulous marine bird sightings.

Other standouts of the voyage are the King George River and King George Falls, and the Hunter River, home to the Hunter Falls and the Donkin Falls, tucked away between cliffs and fjords that are unlike anywhere else in the world. The Hunter River also has one of the world’s largest populations of saltwater crocodiles.

You’ll get to discover Darwin, too.  This cosmopolitan city has its own fascinating culture and food scene (don’t miss the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets with their unique local and global food stalls) as well serving as a gateway to some incredible national parks and gorges.

The Kimberley Expeditions take place aboard Pursuit, a remarkable new-in-2023 vessel that, like its intimate, ultra-luxury, purpose-built sister ship Venture, was designed for diverse environments to PC6 Polar Class standards and includes thrilling, state-of-the-art features including two custom-built submarines providing an unparalleled view of life below the ocean’s surface, double sea kayaks and 24 Zodiacs that can accommodate all onboard guests at once for truly immersive adventures.

Like Seabourn’s other ships, Pursuit has a number of all-oceanfront Owner’s, Signature and Wintergarden Suites, all of them exceptional in terms of size, luxury and the sheer number of amenities, which include Swarovski® binoculars for use during your carefully curated voyage. All have separate bedrooms and dining areas, guest baths and wet bars, and many can connect with adjoining veranda suites to form Grand Suites with several sleeping areas, bathrooms and verandas.
