Experience luxury island living at The Landings Resort and Spa

In a gorgeous setting on Rodney Bay in the north of the island, on a stretch of powdery-white sand overlooking the Pigeon Island National Landmark, this stunning property is one of our top recommendations for a family holiday in Saint Lucia. By virtue of its fantastic facilities and its huge villa suites with up to three bedrooms — perfect for multi-generational holidays or getaways with other families or friends. It’s also ideal for an all-inclusive holiday – one that leaves you free to relax without having to reach for your wallet.

The villa suites

There are just 85 of these, all with views of the private marina or the sea – our favourites are those right on the beachfront. They’re all a fantastic size, with four-poster beds in the master bedroom and several oversized terraces or balconies, some with alfresco plunge pools.

They also have separate living and dining areas, and even the practicalities of kitchens and washer–dryers, with butler service in some cases too. For the ultimate escape, you can even book to upgrade to a pre-stocked kitchen pantry and the services of a private chef.

A family-friendly resort

A complimentary kids’ club for 4 to 12 year olds delights younger guests with the likes of scavenger hunts, beach football, and limbo lessons while giving them the opportunity to make new friends. While they're kept busy you could sneak in some indulgence at the spa with its hydrotherapy room, steam rooms, and hot and cold plunge pools. For teens, don't miss the resort's newly-launched programme featuring activities including steelpan lessons and beach Olympics. There’s also babysitting available for those with younger kids or for evening childcare.

For fun together, there’s a family option among the four lovely swimming pools – the others are the Beach Club pool, Marina pool, and an adult-only pool for some quiet time. The beach is the place for snorkelling, sea kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing (with tuition for those who require it), and there’s kitesurfing nearby.

Other activities within just a few minutes of the resort are diving, horse riding, and golf – all available via the friendly concierge team who can also arrange private yacht charter and an array of excursions. We particularly recommend venturing out to tackle part of the trans-island rainforest walk, to join a guided hike in the Pitons, the UNESCO-listed volcanic mountains, to experience the world’s only drive-in volcano at the curative sulphur springs, and to check out Anse-La-Raye with its Friday night beach lobster feasts and botanical gardens.

Other experiences to consider include rainforest zip-lining or riding the rainforest ddventure Aerial Tram Tour, the chance to Segway along a nature trail, a visit to the working plantation of the Fond Doux Eco Resort to learn how cacao is processed, a day out at Splash Island Water Park, walking underwater on a Sea Trek Adventure Helmet Diving Tour, and exploring Pigeon Island with its historic naval garrison, museum, beach, and hilltop lookout.

Dining at The Landings

Nearby Rodney Bay has some great restaurants to sample, but if you book the resort’s fantastic value all-inclusive package, you’ll enjoy a full American breakfast, lunch, and dinner (including room service), beach snacks, and unlimited deluxe drinks service.

The food at The Landings is great, whether in the water’s-edge Beach Club Restaurant with its global dining including themed evenings or in relaunched Callaloo, a beach venue with farm-to-table cuisine. The kitchen team works real wonders with fresh local herbs and organic vegetables – don’t miss the fragrant chutneys made from island fruits. It's also worth noting that the popular The Palms fine dining restaurant will be relaunched as an Asian-Caribbean fusion restaurant in November this year.
