Experience the Caribbean with British Airways

British Airways is a classic choice for flying to the Caribbean, whichever way you choose to fly. We’ve shone a spotlight on five of our favourite destinations in the Caribbean served by British Airways.

Experience the Caribbean with British Airways

Its Economy Class (World Traveller) gets our vote for great-value fares, but we also love Premium Economy (World Traveller Plus) for its wider seat, greater legroom, priority and extra checked bag. Alternatively, push the boat out and upgrade yourself to Business (Club World) for lounge access, dedicated check-in and fully flat beds, or to First for the most exceptional comforts, including fine dining in your own private suite.

Antigua

This island-paradise of pink- and white-sand beaches is a great place to combine adventure and luxury thanks to its land sports, gorgeous inland terrain, fascinating history and out-of-this-world cuisine. Aquatic adventures along its 150km of coastline include deep-sea and reef fishing, scuba-diving, snorkelling, learning to sail, kayaking through mangroves, water-skiing, kite-surfing, boat cruises and even swimming near stingrays. But there’s plenty more fun in store away from the water, such as rainforest zip-lining, hiking tours, cycling, island safaris and helicopter rides.

The Bahamas

Pink sands, warm seas, clear waters and swimming pigs combine to make this one of the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean. Made up of 14 main islands and almost 700 outer islands and cays, its most popular spots – aside its beaches –  include Nassau with its colonial heritage, Victorian mansions, pastel-painted wooden shops and Straw Market, and Paradise Island. We also recommend taking a powerboat from Nassau to the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, a vast natural reserve with coral reefs, exotic marine life and Bahamian iguanas.

Barbados

Famed for its warm welcome, this classic Caribbean destination offers everything from lounging on the beach to active pursuits including swimming near turtles, surfing and cave exploration. It’s a great place to go out on the town, with a whole host of inviting bars, pubs and nightclubs. We never miss out on the iconic Oistins Fish Fry, with seafood cooked at stalls in front of you and dancing to a mix of back-in-time hits (Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Jamaican ska and old country and western) and calypso.

Jamaica

Another party-loving island, Jamaica has more glorious beaches – one a full seven miles long – along with an adventurous terrain of cliffs, waterfalls, lagoons and hot springs providing a natural playground for activities including river-raft rides, zip-wiring through the rainforest and over ancient sugar mill ruins, and even bobsleighing down a mountain. Music is a big deal here, too; pay homage to the island’s biggest legend at the Bob Marley Museum in his former home and recording studio birthplace, or at his final resting place in Nine Mile village.

Saint Lucia

The picture-postcard Caribbean but with the added drama of the UNESCO-listed Pitons as a spectacular bonus, Saint Lucia is another excellent setting for activities in, on and around the waves as well as for land adventures such as abseiling and rainforest zip-wiring. Its forests teem with the likes of plumed parrots, hummingbirds and wild orchids, while its spiritual mountains, therapeutic mineral springs and mud baths entice those seeking a wellness retreat.
