Get to know the Raya Collection

Both awarded Gold Level and Green Hotel awards in 2023, the luxury properties Rayavadee and Raya Heritage – part of the Raya Collection – are some of our favourite recommendations in Thailand.

Not only are they luxurious and unique – they share our own values of sustainability, cultural and historical preservation, and commitment to their local communities, with the aim of enriching and uplifting the places where they stand. As a guest, that means genuine local hospitality and authentic experiences with a positive effect.

Get to know the Raya Collection

Rayavadee Krabi, Thailand

Like nowhere else on Earth, this southern gem has a truly fabulous location on the edge of Krabi's National Marine Park, amidst lush foliage, limestone cliffs, white-sand beaches, and the Andaman Sea. Rayavadee’s first resort and its flagship, it’s perfect for those who want to reconnect with nature.

One of the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World portfolio, this is a fairly intimate tropical resort with very special, indeed award-winning, architecture evoking the atmosphere of a southern Thai village. Accommodation is in unique two-storey circular pavilions and villas scattered throughout the coconut groves, some with private pools. The biggest have three bedrooms, making Rayavadee a great choice for multigenerational holidays or other gatherings with family or friends.

There’s plenty to explore nearby: reefs rich in colourful marine life, Poda, Chicken, and Hong islands with their pristine beaches and strange rock formations, and iconic Phi Phi Island is just a 35-minute speedboat ride away. Krabi Town's morning market is well worth a stroll, and there are brilliant activities including kayaking along the green waterways of Ta Lane’s mangrove forests.

The food is as glorious as the accommodation and the setting, in laidback Raya Dining with its global grills, including locally sourced seafood and top cuts of meat, or try Krua Phranang, a romantic Thai restaurant with views over the beach, limestone cliffs, and outlying islands. Don’t miss the poolside Raitalay Terrace with its Asian-inspired cuisine and beach views or dine in the unique beachside Grotto. This special venue is located in Rayavadee's private limestone cave and is only available to guests staying at the resort.

Raya Heritage Chiang Mai, Thailand

Also among the Leading Hotels of the World, this gorgeous all-suite boutique ‘river sanctuary’ truly takes our breath away with its clean, contemporary take on traditional Thai design, its super-calming spa drawing on regional healing techniques, and its serene setting on the banks of the Ping.

It’s a location totally in keeping with the hotel’s emphasis on living in balance with nature and the local community. The 38 suites – all with terraces and river views, and some with their own pool – come with beautifully curated one-off artefacts, accessories, and furnishings sourced from local artisans, including handwoven textiles and wood carvings.

But there’s more to Raya Heritage than hiding yourself away, tempting though that is. Half- and full-day excursions to temples, markets, villages and national parks are on offer, as are the likes of ethical elephant experiences, jungle walks, rock climbing and rafting. Additionally, you benefit from a complimentary shuttle throughout the day to Chiang Mai’s old town with its ancient temples and fabulous craft boutiques.

Again, food is a highlight. Khu Khao the signature restaurant serves rustic cuisine inspired by the rice-based culture of the Golden Triangle and the countries that border northern Thailand, with locally sourced ingredients and seasonal menus. What’s more the Laan Cha Tea Terrace with its river views, serves light seasonal dishes and afternoon teas, and the Riverside Baan Ta Lounge and Lawn has light evening meals and cocktails.

10 November 2025

Most people picture Japan in spring with parks full of pink petals, picnic blankets, and camera flashes. But what if you swapped cherry blossoms for fiery autumn leaves instead? The autumn season, known locally as kōyō, brings a slower, more atmospheric kind of beauty. It stretches across months rather than weeks and gives you a deeper sense of Japan’s rhythm, if you plan ahead, that is. Because once the colours start turning, hotels and viewing spots fill up fast.
