The pinnacle of family fun on Sun Princess

It’s an even more exciting year than ever for the wonderful Princess Cruises with the launch of their first Sphere-class cruise ship, Sun Princess, this month. The largest ships built for Princess; Sphere-class vessels will also be its first ships powered by liquefied natural gas.

The pinnacle of family fun on Sun Princess

Sun Princess will sail an inaugural season of Mediterranean cruises from February 2024, followed by Western and Eastern Caribbean voyages out of Fort Lauderdale in autumn 2024. Then there’s her season in the Mediterranean in 2025 to look forward to, with itineraries such as the seven-night Mediterranean with France & Italy cruise on 9th August taking you from Barcelona to Rome via the delights of Gibraltar, Marseille, Genoa, and the iconic Tuscan cities of Florence and Pisa.

All Princess ships are family friendly, but Sun Princess and her Sphere-class cruise sisters up the ante with Park19, the cruise line’s brand-new top-deck family activity zone. It will feature Sea Breeze, the first Rollglider on a ship (an electric zipline, inspired by hang gliding), and kids’ and teen centres that are included in your package.

But this newly envisioned space has in fact been created for all generations, with nine engaging activities for the entire family to join in with, from tots to grandparents (cruises being perfect for multi-generational holidays). Among them are the Coastal Climb obstacle structure taking you up to The Lookout open-air observation deck, and The Net, with unstable bridges, a z-shaped balance beam, and a climb cargo net.

Other attractions include Infinite Horizon, with tilt walls cantilevered over the side of the ship so you can peer down the decks, the whimsical Splash Zone, and the Recreational Court. Here you can try your hand at ping pong, shuffleboard, Xponential Fitness classes, morning meditation, and a run around the jogging track.

The kids’ centre includes Firefly Park, where children aged six months to seven years old and their families can play together, or where kids can be dropped off for art classes, themed parties, and group games. There’s also a dedicated play area for children to enjoy.

Then there are Neon Grove and The Underground, where tweens and teens can socialise, with organised activities such as scavenger hunts, movie nights, competitions, and dance parties. Like all Princess ships, Sun Princess is a MedallionClass ship, meaning families can stay connected onboard using the OceanCompass shipmate locator and chat feature.

Sun Princess is Princess’ largest-ever ship, with its highest number of balconies (1,500), around 30 bars and restaurants, and innovative entertainment venues. The most impressive of which is the multi-level Dome, inspired by the terraces of Santorini and with a pool and performances by the likes of renowned circus artists Cirque Eloize. There’s also next-level accommodation, including Cabana Staterooms with a private cabana and Signature Sky Suites sleeping up to five.

Other brand-new introductions include the Wake View Terrace with an infinity pool and South Beach resort style deck, the Princess Arena, the cruise line’s most technologically advanced performance space, and the two-storey Lotus Spa.
