Private Villa with pool in The Algarve
We stayed in the Villa Formasa in Almancil. It was a three bedroom private villa with a secluded private pool, only a 15 minute drive from the airport. Next to the Formosa was the Villa Pinhal, another three bedroom villa owned by the same man, Victor who also lived next door. However, all the properties were well spread out so we didn’t feel overlooked. Each property had a lovely big garden Victor keeps goats and chickens which the kids loved.
If you are a large group you could hire both villas. They each had all the facilities you need, three bathrooms, dvd player, wifi, dishwasher and washing machine as well as an outdoor BBQ with a great eating area. Almancil, was only five minutes away where there are two supermarkets.
The villa was perfect for relaxing around the pool but we did venture out a few times. Vilamoura was only a 10 minute drive and with a beautiful marina to walk around it was perfect for finding somewhere nice to eat – prices were very reasonable. The much larger town of Albufeira is a bit further along the coast. It has a lovely long beach, old town as well as a pretty marina.
Overall he beaches along the Algarve are lovely, and the nearest beach was only five minutes from the villa. We also spent the day at Aquashow Water Park. It’s great as it had a small theme parked area with rides, a sea lion show, the waterpark and other animals for holding and picture taking around the park. As you can imagine this day was the highlight of the week for the kids.
I would really recommend The Algarve for families. It’s a great area to explore and easy to hire a car and drive around. Staying in a villa is a fantastic alternative and feeding everyone was fine if you like BBQs and salads!! We would definitely go back and stay in this villa.
