About Me

Hello, thank you for visiting my website.

I am based in Braunton, North Devon. I have been in the travel industry since 1969 and was the Barnstaple Manager for a well known retail travel agency chain for 29 years. I now work for Travel Counsellors, as one of their highly experienced, independent, home based personal travel advisors.

Over the years, I have travelled extensively, visiting North and South America, Asia, Australasia, Africa and many places in Europe. I am passionate about travel and believe that now, as an independent travel advisor, unaligned to any tour operator, I can provide a far more unbiased service than that I was able to provide, as a part of a large, vertically integrated, travel organisation.

I have been arranging holidays for many of my customers since the early 70’s. These customers are now friends and have, in turn, passed my name on to their friends and family.

I believe, in these days of vast consumer choice, whether on the internet, teletext, retail shops or booking direct, personal recommendation and confidence in your travel advisor, is paramount to obtaining the best in customer service.

I am a Bachelor of Science, a Fellow of the Institute of Travel and Tourism and have a Diploma in Earth Sciences.

I was the British National Surf Team Manager in the 70's and 80's and took the British Surf Team to the World Surfing Championships, based in many exotic locations around the world.

Whilst one often reads about the harmful effects of global tourism, many of the world’s wildlife parks only exist because of the income generated by tourism. In the future, will loggerhead turtles still be nesting on Zakynthos? Will you be able to still enjoy the sight of polar bears in Churchill, Canada ? I believe that tourists' interest in a natural wonder, makes the local population realise it's importance and value to them, preservation of these natural wonders therefore, is seen as a benefit to them.
