About Me
Hi, my name is Kim Hughes and I am a personal Travel Counsellor based in Darlington living with my four children, Gareth, Adam, Richard and Amy.
I started work within the travel industry on leaving school at 16, and for 5 years worked for McKie Brothers Travel on the High Street. I then left the industry and worked in the pub trade, where I met my husband and started my family.
In 2002, my passion for travel brought me back into the industry and I worked as a travel consultant for First Choice holidays. The travel industry had changed a lot since my early experience and I found that my role involved a lot of directional selling, which some of the time resulted in my clients buying the wrong package. Becoming disheartened I was delighted to find Travel Counsellors in 2005.
Since becoming a Travel Counsellor I find I can not only balance my work and life much better than before, but I can also offer my clients the service and advice they require. With access to a wide selection of holidays and operators, I can tailor make the right holiday to suit your needs regardless of budget. I am available at times when most high street agencies are closed, including evenings and weekends to suit you. Most of my clients are now trusted friends and I enjoy searching and finding the perfect break for them, going to special measures to ensure their holiday is perfect. On occasion I have even dropped clients at the airport to save on parking costs.
I love to travel and have travelled extensively over the years, both with my family and on educational/professional training trips. I have an extensive knowledge of many destinations and would the opportunity to pass some of this experience on to you to ensure you find the perfect holiday.
