Trip to Ontario 19/06/2011

I have just got back from a fantastic trip to Ontario in Canada and what an amazing place!

We arrived in Toronto and transferred to the King Edward Hotel where we stayed for one night, a beautiful hotel right in the centre within walking distance of pretty much everywhere - I would certainly recommend it!

In the evening we had dinner in the Pure Spirits and Oyster House & Grill in the Distillery District, one of the best fish and seafood restaurants in the city.

From Toronto we travelled down to Niagara Falls and stayed in the Sheraton on the Falls for a two night stay, we had a falls view room, which is an absolute must if you’re staying over. The view is fantastic - I was blown away.

The next day we went on the Maid of the Mist, which takes you in front of the American Falls and into the basin of the Canadian Horseshow Falls, a not to be missed trip. Also not to be missed is the Helicopter ride over the Falls -absolutely wonderful.

An early start the next day, as we set off on the long drive up to Algonquin Park; long, but well worth it! We stayed in Arowhon Pines, which is in a natural setting amidst lakes, rivers and forests filled with wildlife, we even saw a Moose by the roadside which was very exciting. We stayed in a Rustic little lodge which was well equipped and had everything you need. There are lots of things to do in the park; canoeing, kayaking, hiking or just relaxing by the lake.

We then travelled on to the Beautiful city of Ottowa where we stayed one night in the Indigo Hotel, a lovely hotel in an ideal location. We did all the usual sightseeing, including the Canadian Museum of Civilization which is a must! We also had dinner at Big Daddy’s Bistro, -lovely food and a great atmosphere. Ottowa offers everything and is a lovely city with some great shopping, sightseeing and dining options.

We flew home from Ottowa to London, after a lovely trip. All in all a great place to visit and lots to see and do and can’t wait to go back!
