A 12 year old's view of our 6 night P&O cruise

We drove from just south of Edinburgh to the bottom of England, Southampton. It took us 7 hours and we were all really tired. We boarded the ship the next day, it was absolutely massive, bigger than any cruise ship I’d seen before.

We had a really good lunch in the buffet, then met up with one of mum’s colleagues; Lou and her son Rhys. We went to the kids club, which was really fun, and there were lots of activities, including PS4s, Wii Us and Girls vs. Boys Battles.

A few days later in the kids club I made friends with a few girls. We all went in the swimming pool together. There are two family pools, an adults pool, and a teens pool. I only went in the family pools. One of them was really cold and the other one was heated. I only found out the pool I was in was the cold one after a couple days!

Our room was really nice, and we had three beds, one which came down from the roof and two single beds. We also had a big TV, two chairs, a desk and a balcony with a table and chairs. We were on the starboard side of the ship. Unfortunately Lou and Rhys were staying at the front of the ship, whilst we were at the back.

The food is really good, especially at dinner. I had steak, salmon, sea-bass, pollock and chicken tikka masala. All on different nights of course. We sat at a table with Lou, Rhys and Rhys’ grandparents, it was nice getting to talk to them at dinner.

The breakfast was really yummy too! I liked having chocolate muffins, pain au chocolate and fruit for my breakfast, whereas my brother Stewart and mum liked having cooked breakfast.

Usually before dinner we went for drinks in different bars; I liked having mocktails or lemonade and then I would either play cards/Uno with Rhys & Stewart or do some colouring.

I enjoyed stopping and getting off the boat at La Rochelle and near Bilbao, they were both really fun to see and explore. Sadly we didn't stop in Guernsey as it was too rough to tender across from the ship.

Sadly, the last two days were very rocky and mum felt a bit sea sick, but we made the most of it and went in the pool even when it was rainy and cold!

I enjoyed being able to get snacks around the pool, you could get pizza, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, chips, ice cream and Costa fruit coolers!
