Luxury Dubai on the Palm

We stayed for two nights at the Waldorf Astoria, the Palm in December. The location is a 30 minute drive from Dubai Downtown, 45 mins from Dubai airport or only an hour from Abu Dhabi airport.

The hotel is located on the East Frond of the Palm, the man-made island reaching out into the Arabian Sea. There is a complimentary shuttle bus service to the waterpark at Atlantis, Mall of the Emirates (where you can pick up the clean and efficient metro service into downtown). In the evenings there is a water taxi to take you to the buzzing Marina area. We took a taxi into Dubai to see the fountains, which was approximately £20 each way.

I loved being out on the Palm, this hotel especially has a laid back resort feel, with a lovely white sand beach and gorgeous pool area. There is no question over the luxury though, it's 5* all the way, with friendly staff ready to lay the towels out on your sunbed, hand you complimentary chilled water and every so often stop by with fruit kebabs. The kids loved the high tech touches, scanning QR codes on the table by your sunbed to order from the menu and having it delivered without having to catch anyone’s attention!

We all loved watched Harry Potter on a big screen under the stars one evening, with popcorn and drinks delivered to our seats, although it has to be said that in December it does get chilly in the evenings. The breeze is appreciated during the day though, as the sun is still strong for us Northern Europeans!

The rooms, as you would expect, are large, bright, and have gorgeous amenities, Salvatore Feragamo toiletries, fluffy slippers and robes, and a huge bathtub complete with wooden boat! Nespresso coffee machine, iPod docking station and a TV in the bathroom are the kind of luxuries that make you feel spoiled and exactly why you would choose this hotel over any other!
