Silversea Expeditions - adventure and exploration

Louise Mitchell on 21 May 2016
I was lucky enough to go onboard the Silversea Explorer today - one of 4 "Expedition Class" ships in the Silversea Fleet.

While I was impressed with the lovely Suites, Butler Service, all inclusive concept and fantastic food, the real purpose of these ultra-luxury small ships is to transport you away from the rest of the world, and take you where no one else goes... to the furthest, most remote and inaccessible regions of the planet. All Expedition ships are purpose built, with strengthened hulls and are capable of pushing through ice flows with ease.

It really is all about the destinations, and I would love to help you find the exact journey to suit you. Whether you have always wanted to visit Antarctica - to sail into the caldera of the volcanic Deception Island, watch the magnificent sunsets over the icebergs or marvel at the whales, penguins, seals and albatrosses.... Or perhaps the Galapagos islands have always been on your bucket list - a living museum of natural history. A fully inclusive package includes flights to and from the mainland, pre and post hotel stays as well as all the park entrance fees on the islands.

Closer to home for us Europeans, but one of the earth's most inspiring landscapes, the Arctic has abundant wildlife including 3,000 polar bears, walruses, reindeer, as well as numerous migratory birds and other marine mammals. And if you have seen glaciers on a "regular" Alaskan cruise, be prepared to be wowed again by the Ilulissat Icefjord which produces nearly 20 million tons of ice each day!

I could go on and on, but suffice to say, I was immensely impressed by the variety and uniqueness of each Silversea Expedition - this isn't cruising as you know it - this is adventure, excitement, thrilling, awe-inspiring and humbling, all at the same time.

Please get in touch if you have any question on the Silversea brand, whether it is an Expedition or Classic cruise - there are 800 destinations on all seven continents all waiting for you!
