Bora Bora, French Polynesia
The perfect romantic destination is not limited to fairy tales... . Bora Bora, Tahiti’s most famous island, is very real, and has captured the hearts of travellers for centuries, dating back to the days when Captain Cook stumbled upon this mystical island. It was love at first sight for myself and my husband when we visited and first set eyes on the turquoise waters of the lagoons. They appear to have a neon glow with the sunlight pouring through. It’s not surprising that Bora Bora has earned a reputation for being the most romantic island in the world. Singles too are welcome, but be prepared to fall in love with its beauty and all the wonders it holds.

Life centres around the water on a Bora Bora holiday, so you’ll find it very much the focus of island activities. You can explore the lagoons by glass bottom boat, motorboat or Jet ski or even canoe, hopping to tiny cays for a quick swim, or picnic. An outrigger canoe is a more traditional mode of transportation. In French Polynesia you’ll find these outrigger excursions can be luxurious affairs with canoes stocked with fresh fruit, and pastries for the journey around the island. They can be booked at your hotel upon arrival, or ahead of time. The canoes are also used for Weddings on the island to transport the bride. One of our most popular trips was a close encounter with the island’s resident sharks and manta rays. From a safe distance away, we had an underwater view as we snorkelled with a guide feeding schools of docile sharks and manta rays looking for a morning meal.

To explore land, trips by 4x4 vehicles showcase the history of the island. Panoramic views are plentiful en route, giving visitors a true taste of Bora Bora’s unspoilt environment. You’ll also want to see Tahitian villages up close. Talk to the local people, taste tropical fruit juices, and shop for handicrafts and precious Tahitian black pearls. Yes, this is paradise!

Motu Tapu is the most photogenic island in the South Pacific. It’s a tiny motu that has a reputation for being the most relaxing place on Earth.

The best spas can also be found here. Imagine being pampered and treated with treatments using natural honey, papaya, coconut milk and flower essences.

From thatched villas to over-water bungalows, the accommodations in Bora Bora are truly unique.

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you would like further information on this truly amazing paradise.

We cannot wait to visit again ....
