My Travel Diaries
This time Visiting Cyprus was to be different for me as I was staying in 2 areas of the island. Protaras for my 1st week and then driving around the island to the resort of Paphos for my second week.
Protaras I thought was amazing. White sands and calm gentle waters of fir tree bay, twinned with the family ambience of protaras's nightlife. Even in August my family really enjoyed this area. Fantastic for families looking for a good quality resort with some Top Class hotels as well as self catering apartments and plenty of activities for all to enjoy. We stayed at the Capo Bay hotel and what a wonderful hotel this is. The best thing about this hotel is the sunbeds are allocated to your room so no 6 am start for anyway! Just take your time getting up or go to the beach and then end up by the pool knowing that your sunbeds are waiting for you. The beach/pool towel boys are very accommodating too. Capo bay is in a great location, right on Fir tree bay and 1 minute walk to the main areas for restaurants and shops. The hotel staff are very good and our room was even better.
As the week ended we said goodbye to Capo bay and picked up a car and headed towards Paphos, a journey taking around 2 1/2 Hours. We stopped en route to have some lunch and then made our way to the Athena Beach hotel in paphos. As we arrived we were greeted immediately by the public relations staff whom were very attentive and made check in very smooth, we were shown to our room and all out facilities were explained to us, so we felt at home straight away. Within 10 minutes the Duty Manager has called us in the room to welcome us too!
The pools were great at this hotel, many to choose from and the waterside was fantastic for the kids, they loved it here. This is not the place for beach lovers as the beach is very course and the sea, is fairly rough and has seaweed, so not idea for little ones. The pools however more than compensate for this though. Plenty of sunbeds around on the lawned areas or by the pools.
Paphos is a favorite of mine and as we know the area well, we visited Coral bay for the White sandy Beach and ate out most evenings in many of the harbour restaurants they have.
We visited the markets situated up in the town and bought the usual hand woven rugs and selection of local crafts and hand made bedding!
The hotel itself, was a little dated i felt but you cannot fault the cleanliness and the staff were amazing and it was a pleasure to stay here and can recommend it highly.
Well, my journey is over now and i hope you have enjoyed reading my Cyprus Experience.
