My Travel Diaries
I visited Prague in January when it was cold, as this seemed to be the perfect time. It still felt like christmas and the sights were wonderful to view with a scattering of snow on them. Waking up to crisp, frosty mornings was a delight.
I went with my husband for a 2 night break, and we stayed just off the old town square which was lovely. A must see is the Astronomical Clock whilst sitting outside sipping hot chocolate in a big coat under the warm heaters the restaurants provide.
We walked across the Charles Bridge to get to the castle and listened to the buskers, whilst browsing the stalls for souvenirs. The views from Prague Castle were amazing and the castle was fantastic. We were luckily enough to see the changing of the guards at the courtyard as you enter the castle. Whilst in the castle grounds we visited St Nicholas's Church.. WOW, what a building, the stone work and the stained glass windows were beautiful.
On an evening it was lovely to go out and walk through the little alleyways and stumble across a restaurant and try some traditional Czech cuisine...well, we tried it anyway!! Luckily there is also plenty of other choices if Czech cuisine doesn't meet your requirements. There is also a great choice of bars and cafes to make a evening plentiful.
All in all we had a lovely break and Prague is definitely a place worth visiting. I loved it.
