Paradise in the Maldives

We flew direct from Abu Dhabi after the Gold Travel Counsellors conference to the Maldives for 5 nights. The flight is only 4hrs 20 minutes.

On arrival to Male we were greeted by the Island representative who took us to the sea plane transfer desk to check in our luggage for our onward flight to Zithali Resort & Spa Kuda-Funafaru. We waited in the Zithali lounge for our plane to arrive where we received refreshments and here we completed all our check in forms for our stay.

The seaplane transfer is approx. 50 minutes duration but you get to see a lot of the beautiful islands on the way.

Once we got to the island we were greeted by a member of the Zitahli staff whom then took us for a quick tour of the island in a golf buggy then took us to our room.

We had a Deluxe Beach Villa. The beach villas are very spacious 175sqm and have everything you need for your stay. They are very private too with your own little beach area, outside decking area, inside day bed and just a few steps from the beautiful turquoise waters. There is a bose sound system within the villas, a kitchen/personalised bar area and one of the biggest bathrooms I have ever seen with an outdoor and indoor shower and a giant Jacuzzi where you can soak and look into the ocean. There was nothing at all that I could have faulted about the villas as they were extremely luxurious.

The Island itself whilst we were there was very much under capacity and at one stage there was only about 10 people on the whole island! Perfect for us. It only takes approx. 20mins to walk around the whole island.

The staff were very friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. We were on a full board basis so each night they had a different theme on the buffet and the food was always very good. At lunch time we ate in the Breezes restaurants and the menu choice was superb.

The weather was a little touch and go to be honest but we expected that as it was their rainy season, however we have been to other Islands in the Maldives this time of year and never had a drop of rain.

The Maldives is the place to go if you want total relaxation and to unwind. You can always twin it up with a two centre holiday to make it a little more varied if sitting on a beach and doing nothing is a little much for you.
