Fabulous Vancouver Honeymoon

Monday 22nd May 2000

5 Stars

My wife and I decided to honeymoon in British Columbia, Canada in May 2000. As a base, Vancouver is a spectacular city with plenty to offer. The city centre is fairly small and is therefore ideal to walk around without the need for transport. In the Summer, Stanley Park is perfect for an afternoon stroll in the very pleasant sunshine. The park also houses a number of attractions including the aquarium. Canada Place is where the cruise ships dock and a number of attractions are in the vicinity including the BC Tower and I-Max cinema experience.

Take a ferry across the river and then a bus to Grouse Mountain. There is a scenic cablecar that will whisk you up to the summit where you can ski or snowboard (even in early Summer!). On your return to the city you may be brave enough to tackle the Capillano suspension bridge.

During our visit we drove up to Whistler and enjoyed a couple of nights in a local bed & breakfast. The scenery along the way was stunning. If you are lucky you will see bears and their cubs in the spring. Whistler is a year-round resort and there is snow on the peaks to support summer skiing and snowboarding.

Canada is a big country and I would recommend at least two weeks to explore British Columbia. Driving is a pleasure with very little traffic to endure.
