My Travel Diaries
At the beginning of March 2010 we visited Les Gets in France. We stayed in a catered chalet and I must say the village and the surrounding ski areas were fabulous. Les Gets is an attractive, sunny village of traditional chalet-style buildings on a low pass leading to Morzine. The village has a quiet ambience that appeals to families, though it does liven up at weekends. The centre is quite pedestrian friendly.
Many of the ski slopes are shared with Morzine and are accessed by gondola and fast chairlift from the main village. On the opposite side of Les Gets is Mont Chery, where you will find some of the most challenging slopes in the area and are usually very quiet. There are many wooded and open slopes.
Coach transfer from Geneva is approx 1hr15mins.
A great area to learn to ski with lots of easy runs to progress to. There are great red and black runs for the more adventurous skiers.
Morzine and Avoriaz are in easy skiing distance and are well worth a visit. Les Gets is on the vast Portes du Soleil ski area.
There are lots of charming mountain restaurants but some can be a little expensive compared to the main villages....location, location, location....!
