Having been lucky enough to experience ships such as Voyager, Freedom and Independence of the Seas with Royal Caribbean I decided to take my family on a cruise during the summer holidays.

I selected a Noewgian Fjords itinerary with P&O cruises staying on the Oceana. The Oceana was advertised as being a family friendly ship which was important to me as I have two young children.

The ship sailed from Southampton which was very convenient, we drove down the day before and booked into the Novotel which is more or less next to where Oceana sailed from, this enabled us to have a leisurely morning before we embarked.

My parents also travelled with me, they hadn't cruised before so were a little apprehensive about what to expect. By the end of the week they had experienced one of their best ever holidays!!!!

The WOW factor started as soon as we boarded the ship with good accommodation, great facilities, a fantastic choice of food at meal times and fabulous entertainment. All this along with with the beautiful scenery of the Norwegian Fjords made for a very memorable holiday.

The Ocenana is a lovely ship, and was certainly as good as my previous cruise experiences. We used the swimming pool every day and watched the entertainment in the evening. The children visited the children's clubs for an hour a day (they could have stopped longer but we had so much to do and show them) and were very well looked after by the staff. They went to a character breakfast with Noddy, attended a childrens poetry session and loved the parties that were arranged. A rock band also flew in to play for them (and the adults too!!!)

Even though the ship was child friendly there were plenty of passengers who travelled without children and probably didn't notice that there were children on board!

We had such a good time I have re booked onto the Oceana for 2009 on an itinerary that takes in the UK, Ireland France and Spain, I can't wait!!!!
