During this time I have travelled extensively throughout the world visiting such places as Australia and New Zealand, the United States and Canada, many countries in South America and I have also travelled the length of Africa and also know the Middle East well. I am able to pass on this wealth of knowledge and experience to you.

India and Nepal

Having now been to India and Nepal several times I think I know the country well enough to say I am a specialist. The wonderful Golden Triangle with its temples and palaces is well worth a two week holiday with an add on like Ranthambore National Park or wonderful Udaipur. Jaipur and Jodhpur are excellent places to stop for a few days. The South is my favourite, the backwaters of Kerala, the tea plantations, Cochin, Trivandrum and the National Parks, not least the shopping in Cochin. The food is to die for with wonderful scented curries. Please give me a ring if you are planning a holiday to India and we can create your perfect itinerary.
Switerland Train experience

I recently went on a Switzerland Travel Centre trip to experience the trains of Switzerland. On the first day we all met at London City Airport which is a delightful small airport. We flew to Bern with SkyWork Airlines who are a small Swiss owned airline flying out of Bern to selected places. We flew on a Dornier aircraft which is very small and takes about 17 passengers. We arrived in Bern and transferred to the lovely 5 star Schweizerhof Hotel, located right by the train station. We checked into our beautiful contemporary rooms. The hotel has 99 rooms in total and the famous Jack’s Brasserie where delicious Swiss meals are served. In the evening we watched the Son Et Lumiere in Bern’s old town before going to dinner in the old city. The next day we had a guided tour of the old town and learned all about the cantons in Switzerland and how the city was built. There is some interesting architecture and Bern is a wonderful little city with all its cobbled streets and lovely shops. Most of the exteriors of the shops are canopied so that you don’t have to walk in the weather. We had lunch at the Allegro Hotel over the north bridge. This is very much a business hotel and would not be suitable for families or couples wanting to experience Bern. We caught the train to Luzern via the Emmenthal Region and over the Brunig Pass to Interlaken. We stopped in Luzern for half an hour and we were able to cross the famous Kapellbrudke (Chapel) Bridge. We arrived in Interlaken and checked into the 4 star Hotel Interlaken which is a delightful chalet type hotel, not far from the station and in the east part of Interlaken. Dinner in the hotel was a traditional fondue and was very delicious. We all put on our winter woollies the next day for the excursion up via Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, to Europe’s highest railway station at Jungfraujoch. It is at 3454 metres and it was -8 degrees! We did venture out on the viewing platforms and the views are stunning. We visited the ice museum and had lunch at the top. We descended via Grindelwald and back to Interlaken. In the evening we visited the most wonderful Christmas market in Brienz which is a delightful little town well known for its wood carvings. We boarded the lovely trains again, this time to Montreaux on the Golden Pass Line. We had lunch at the Grand Hotel Swiss Majestic on the shores of Lake Geneva and then took the train via Lausanne back to Bern. The trains are wonderful and all work very well. They are never a minute late. It snowed much of the time so was a beautiful winter wonderland. Switzerland would make an excellent holiday for both summer and winter breaks.
Trip to Madeira

Last week three other Travel Counsellors and I went to Madeira with the Portuguese Tourist Office. I have long sold Madeira as a winter destination for the slightly older generation - but it has so much more to offer. It is an incredibly pretty island - very mountainous but very green. Funchal is a charming little city with lots to see and do, a very interesting market and then the port and the cable car up the mountain. We stayed at Reid's Palace overlooking the sea - a wonderful holiday, understated elegance and beautifully appointed. We visited many of the Quintas - the old mansion houses which have been converted into hotels. We also walked one of the levadas which are the waterways built to irrigate the terraces where all their crops are grown. We also visited some of the resort hotels and this destination would be ideal for families and couples alike. There are so many hotels to choose from. The food is really international cuisine with a big emphasis on fish which of course is plentiful. I really would recommend this destination as it is a beautiful and scenic little island and only 3 and a half hours flying time from London.

What would we do without Rosemary? Rosemary has, for many years, been organising our family holidays and as our children grow and their interests change she has always come up with our 'ideal' holiday destination. Whether it's an African safari or a six week tour around North America or just simply lying on a sandy beach in Florida, she is always on hand to help; before, during (if necessary) and after........ even when things don't go quite according to plan.

Rosemary Clarke has booked several holidays for me and my family, has organised a 50th birthday trip for a group of girlfriends and also does business flights for my husband. She never disappoints! Rosemary did an excellent job of arranging our family holiday to Australia, taking into account our requirements for a stopover in Hong Kong on the outbound journey, several flights within Australia and two separate inbound flights. Rosemary's personal understanding of our requirements is second to none. My husbands health deteriorated and her help and assistance with all the difficulties that one encounters at airports, hotels and transport was faultless.
