Sam McCann from Travel Counsellors came to our home and explained exactly how the Bridal registry would work, and reassured us that we would be kept informed of our guests’ donations so that we could write our thank you cards. Sam had some brilliant advice about destinations, and talked through our options, helping us to find the perfect honeymoon hotel, so we have a lot to thank her for!

When time came to send out the invitations, Sam provided hand-written registry cards with envelopes, and she kept us informed at regular intervals of how our account was doing. She even provided hand-written luggage labels.

It’s hard to explain how much effort both Sam and Rendezvous put into making our honeymoon unforgettable, so I’ve settled on just one example, which for me sums up how special we both felt. On arrival at our hotel room, we found our bed entirely decorated with flowers, spelling out ‘congratulations’. There was a complimentary bottle of Bacardi waiting in our room (cheers, Sam) and even better than that, Sam had emailed over some of our wedding photos and the hotel had printed them out and put them in a folder in our room. Now that’s attention to detail…..

We were looking for somewhere to go that was warm, sunny but different for our honeymoon and did not really know where. Sam trawled through the entire Caribbean and Indian ocean for us when we were very preoccupied with our wedding - not realising we had left it quite so late! Sam suggested Thailand from her own visits and Singapore as a good contrast to this and a good introduction to Asia. She was able to organise everything from our honeymoon hotel, flights, parking and hotel at airport, the money and insurance in a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable fashion. We conducted the whole thing over the phone and e-mail and it saved us days in the high street with staff who don't know their Asia from their elbow!

All accommodation and resorts were amazing and we had the most fantastic honeymoon thanks to her professionalism. We would never have been brave enough to try out these destinations ourselves. She has also organised short trips and European holidays for us since with the same high level of service.

Last January, after extensive deliberations and debate, my fiancé and I finally agreed on western Canada for our honeymoon in June. We got a few brochures from travel agents, but as we didn't want to do an escorted tour, or to hire a car to tour round, it all looked quite complicated to sort out.

A colleague of mine then recommended Sam at Travel Counsellors to us as Sam had organised several holidays for her. We approached Sam with a budget and a list of things we did and didn't want to do. Just over a week later she had put together a couple of very different itineraries for us to consider, with suggested activities and places to stay as we toured around. She had recently been to Canada and so could give us some excellent advice on what we could do. She then visited us at home one evening to discuss the options, and from this we arrived at a final itinerary.

As Sam booked the various parts of the itinerary, it had to change slightly due to train times and accommodation costs, but she kept us informed all the way, and comprehensively detailed the options where an alternative solution had to be found. As we were not hiring a car, Sam also sorted out all the transfers by a variety of means - limo, float plane, train, coach and taxi.

We signed up to the Travel Counsellors' wedding gift service which enables friends and relatives to contribute towards the cost of the honeymoon. This was fantastic - all it required was a £10 cheque up front and then Sam and Travel Counsellors did the rest - Sam even wrote out 100 detail cards for us to put in with the invitations!

The result was a wonderful, active, but stress-free holiday of a lifetime.
