It's Nice To Meet You

WELCOME AND MANY THANKS FOR VISITING MY PERSONAL WEBSITE

Have you spent hours surfing the net, trawling up and down the high street, and still not found what you are looking for? If so then RELAX and let me, your own Personal Travel Counsellor take the strain away. I fully understand modern lifestyles and careers can be hectic, so my aim is to save you time, money and hassle wading through brochures and endless websites.

I have worked in the travel industry for 19 years, where my clients have followed me through the years as they prefer honest, professional service from someone they can trust to make their holiday or trip special.

I worked on the High Street for over 10 years where I became disillusioned with the culture of directional-selling, taking away the emphasis on the customer, which I believe to be an agents number one priority.

I have travelled to many different destinations around the world, gaining expert knowledge to share with you.

One of my favourite places is the Caribbean, including Antigua, Jamaica, Mexico and my number one island; Barbados, which I have visited many times and it feels like a home from home. I have travelled around the US and lived in South Florida for a while getting to know the area extremely well. I also love Europe and the Mediterranean, from lively resorts, bustling cities, to quiet local fishing villages.

My passion is travel so whatever your needs whether a quick getaway, UK break, ski holiday or a trip of a lifetime, I can give you the very best advice and service. 7 days a week, 24 hours a day if necessary.

MY PROMISE TO YOU: is to dedicate all my time to finding you a holiday at the right price you will remember for a lifetime. Customer satisfaction is my priority and I aim to make you so happy you will return to me year after year.

Once again, thank you for visiting and I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Switzerland in the snow

18 February 2013

It has been a dream to return to the Wengen/Lauterbrunnen area of Switzerland, since I was 15 years old having first visited on a school ski trip. It was everything I remembered and more! Our trip started with a flight from Leeds Bradford airport to Geneva. On arrival we were swiftly escorted through the airport, having collected the luggage quickly and hassle free. We were travelling by Swiss Rail to our destination and finding the station was very easy. Once on the double decker train, the second part of journey began. What a wonderful way to travel across Switzerland; the scenery was breath-taking, especially the view of Lake Geneva. We arrived into Lauterbrunnen in the dark so we made our way to the apartment and settled in. It wasn't until the morning when I walked onto the balcony that I remembered just how beautiful the area was. Our apartment looked straight down the Lauterbrunnen valley; it is one of the biggest nature conservation areas in Switzerland. It is set between gigantic rock faces and mountain peaks. It is also famous for its 72 thundering waterfalls and alpine meadows. Not only a great destination in winter but stunningly beautiful in summer. On our first day we organised lift passes from the local sports shop, and this is where I booked my daughter into her first ski school in Wengen. The whole process was quick and easy. From Lauterbrunnen station which is in the middle of the resort, we took the old wooden train up the mountain towards Wengen and beyond. Wengen is a famous Swiss holiday resort at the foot of the Eiger - Mönch - Jungfrau mountain range in the heart of the Bernese Oberland. It has many shops, bars and traditional restaurants with a friendly feel. After exploring Wengen we returned to the train and continued to Kleine Scheidegg. This is where all my childhood memories came flooding back, and where I had my very first ski lesson, and I can confirm I have not improved a lot in the last 25 years. My weeks return to the area was an action packed fun-filled experience. Taking a 32 minute cable car journey up to 2970m and to the Schilthorn was amazing. There is also the revolving restaurant used for the James Bond film 'On her Majesty's Secret Service' where you can see as far as Germany's Black Forest and Mont Blanc is also visible. Next we went to the Jungfraujoch, the top of Europe at 3454m its Switzerland’s highest altitude railway station travelling through the rock of the Eiger. Once at the top you will experience the Ice Palace and the alpine wonder world of ice, snow and rock. It’s simply breath-taking. Other activities we took part in included sledging down the Eiger run, with the dominating Eiger watching on was so much fun, if not a little bit scary when you pick up speed. I could go on and on describing this wonderful family trip, but I will refrain. Switzerland is a great place to visit as a couple, single or as a family. The cost of eating out and everyday expenses are on a par with the UK. The people are friendly and helpful and the country is simply stunning. It should definitely be on everyone's wish list. Thanks for reading and just let me know if you need to know anymore!

Rome- 40th Birthday Treat

18 February 2013

We took a flight from London Gatwick to Rome, everything went very smoothly and on arriving in Rome we jumped in our waiting private transfer to the hotel. We chose a four star hotel three miles out of the city centre; I found you get more for your money staying just a bit outside the centre. On arriving at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly staff. Check in was effortless and we were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was spacious and beautiful. The hotel Palazzo Carpegna was a good four star hotel set in its own grounds with lovely gardens. The hotel was only a five minute walk to the metro station so it was ideal. Once we had dropped things off in the room, we headed to the metro. We bought a three day metro pass for 15 euros each and jumped on the next train. The station nearest to the hotel is "Cornelia" and it was only seven stops to "Piazza Barberini" taking around 20 minutes. The trains are very bright and clean and really easy to use. Piazza Barberini is the nearest station to Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. When we got off the train we tried to find Trevi Fountain which was very amusing, we eventually found this amazing looking fountain down a side street about five minutes’ walk from the station. The fountain was beautiful and the surrounding area was really bustling, it’s definitely worth seeing. During our time in Rome the weather was red hot, so we decided to have a drink near the fountain and just sit and people watch for a while. After a little rest we headed to the Spanish Steps. It took about ten minutes to walk there; the whole area was alive and buzzing with people sitting on the steps having their lunch and just generally chit chatting. The atmosphere was wonderful with people having fun. We climbed the steps and headed for the open top bus stop where we purchased a 48 hour pass for £20 and hopped on. The sites you see on from the bus are brilliant and it’s definitely the best way to see the city. The Colosseum was the first place we hopped off and visited, it’s a very dominating and interesting structure. The queues were really long so we opted for a private tour with a guide, with queue jumping included. The whole tour was great and the wacky guide was fantastic, it’s always good to hear amusing stories. Back on the bus and continuing with the tour, the building and monuments we passed were beautiful and completely over the top. I found myself imagining what Rome used to be like back in the days when Gladiators and Roman Emperors ruled. Next hop off was of course "Vatican City". There is really only one word to describe it - WOW. It was breath-taking and once inside, very calming. Note to all, please cover up legs and arms when visiting the Vatican as if you don’t they won’t let you in. The rest of our trip we just hopped on and off the bus at our leisure and took in everything roman, it truly is a fabulous city full of romance, great food, wine and amazing history. The locals are friendly and the atmosphere is very special. Once again I could go on and on, but I won’t! It should be on everyone's bucket list. If you are thinking of visiting the Italian capital and would like more detail please get in touch!

Shelley is knowledgeable about the travel industry, but also passionate about making sure that you get the best holiday experience possible. I say 'experience' because a holiday may be two weeks out of the country, but the experience encompasses everything. I am always overwhelmed by the choice that is available, and I need to know that I am getting the best value. With Shelley, all of that stress is taken away, she listens to what I want, does the research and guarantees a fab holiday. No problem!

I would like to take the time to give Shelley Kemp the credit she deserves. Shelley organised our 25th wedding anniversary cruise so well that we had practically nothing to do for ourselves. We were able to enjoy our special occasion worry free. Her attention to detail is superb and nothing is too much trouble. We look forward to our holiday this year driving across New England, knowing that once again we will have minimum hassle and maximum enjoyment as Shelley has also arranged this one. Why would we use anyone else?
