My Travel Diaries
They say that “once you go, you know” and after my son Luke and I visited Jamaica we both understood why so many choose Jamaica to take their holidays. This destination includes many of the things that people look for when escaping everyday life for some fun in the Caribbean sun.
We flew from London with BA and arrived in Montego Bay followed by a relaxed transfer to the seven mile white sandy beach of Negril. The first 7 nights was spent at an amazing family resort called Beaches, Negril. After checking out the room we wandered around to see what Beaches has to offer. Although we did take a couple of taxi rides to explore a bit more of the island, just about everything was supplied on the resort.
We decided to try sailing on the Hobie Cats (small catamarans) which we enjoyed so much that we became quite good by the end of our stay. Beaches is designed for families and has its own water park. It was difficult to choose what to do with water slides, the lazy river, the amazing beach, kayaking, sailing, together with all the restaurants and bars to experience. We tried everything and had a great time, see the photos.
All of the restaurants were of a very high standard...our favourite was Kimonos. The Tappanyaki food and unique entertainment made it a very special evening....TWICE!
After our week at Beaches, we moved to Couples for a more relaxed, child free environment for a couple of extra nights.
This resort included an amazing sunset catamaran cruise that you have to experience to appreciate. After a few rum punches and reggae music we decided to try the slide. This was a crazy but proud moment for both of us, as you can see from the photos which aren’t perfect but capture the moment! If you go to Couples, please visit The Piano Bar. Singing with a live pianist was great for me. My Way and around 6 other songs were inspiring for me…not sure what effect it had on Paul the pianist, Omar the barman or the other guests but as we were all drinking ‘Bob Marley’s’ I think it was great!
My top tip…the sunsets are stunning, take a good camera!
Special thanks to all those we met and who helped Luke and I have an incredible experience in Negril Jamaica. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about this great Caribbean island.
