CLIA Cruise Promotion Award

Su Dillon on 20 July 2016
Back in February this year, I entered a competition to CLIA (Cruise Line International Association) where I had to write a proposal about how I'd promote cruises to "yet to cruise" clients.

In May I found out I'd been shortlisted and would be attending the Agent Achievement Awards as guests of CLIA in London along with the other nominees.

It was a fabulous evening with entertainment from Boogie Storm and Tony Hadley, and hosted by Stephen Mulhern. I was absolutely thrilled to be named the winner of the award and have a few pictures here from the night. One of the proposals I put forward was to host an evening, for invited clients both who have cruised before but maybe only with one line and those who have never cruised at all.

On arrival they had a picture taken, just as you would to welcome on board a ship and a Bucks Fizz reception. The host for the evening was Kevin Hutchinson, a local entertainer who entertained the audience with his tales of his cruise ship days and got the party started with some lively music.

There were eight cruise lines in attendance; Celebrity, Cruise and Maritime, Carnival, P&O, Riviera, AMA, Princess and Saga, all who met with the clients and discussed their lines and gave a short presentation.

In true cruise ship style we also had a game of bingo and a quiz to get costs of the cruises mentioned and there were several prizes awarded, as well as being served refreshments in the form of afternoon tea.

The evening was a great success, and since the event, I have sent out the photos to clients with the details of all the exhibitors from the evening.

I love cruising and have a passion for booking clients on a cruise too - so I’m look forward to helping book more in 2017.
