Iceland without the Northern Lights

We flew out from Liverpool with airline play.com, I can arrange any airport based on where you're from.

Driver waiting in arrivals with our name on his tablet, Into a very comfy minibus and off we set

Well located in central Reykjavik to take in all the sights, Of course the main thing on the bucket list to see the Northern lights

A gentle stroll to the harbour by 9pm set sail from the shore, Out on deck in hope we'd see a little more

Sadly they didn't come out to play this time around, but a fab experience even though no NL were found.

It was chilly night so we headed back to the hotel for our stay, A hot toddy or an Irish coffee to end the day ..

Early start day 2 down to a lovely breakfast and get out fill, Not fully aware what the day had in store what was on the bill?

Along with a plenty of other tourists waiting at the bus stop, Up drives a super jeep and see everyone's jaw drop

"That'll be for us then" as we board like a VIP, Others taking photos as we drove away was a sight to see

With our wonderful guide we set out for the day, Sights and wonders of the area to come our way

Geysers and waterfalls the country has so much to show, Then we headed up north to find a lot more snow

We were warned it was wet and very cold but could go if happy to, So on went the overalls and helmets safety info on what we needed to do.

Off out in convoy In the wide open Glacier a sight to be hold, It was freezing and very wet but we had been told

It was one heck of an experience and so glad we could go, Snowmobiling over the Glacier I've never seen so much snow

So tired wet and after a full day which had been unreal, We quickly freshened up and went for a meal

Just hopped over the street to a gastric pub, All seven of us filled up and happy with burger or ribs for grub

For those who had space a fabulous big cheesecake, We were sure ready for. bed make no mistake

Next morning was a little later start - After the Golden Circle we were tired and out of tune, Best remedy you could wish for an afternoon at the Blue Lagoon

Soaking our weary bones in the stunning natural springs, A chilled beer at the bar and a mud face park of all things

Back to the centre for dinner at Islandic street food, Fish, soup or stew served in bread washed down with a beer not to be Rude

Early to bed as we had a 2am alarm call, I can honestly say we've had an absolute ball

The lights didn't shine for us yet they had in the UK, But we'd had an amazing time so that is ok

A small group of 7 met for 1st time on Friday afternoon, We've had such a good laugh we hope to meet up again soon

It's not a cheap weekend I'll be the first to admit, But crammed in so much its surprising how it all fits

So if fancy a weekend next autumn I'm taking bookings today, You can make your own islandic memories of your weekend stay https://www.travelcounsellors.co.uk/su.dillon/#tailloredOffers
