September 2008......I am off on my 3rd visit to Mauritius, this time it is with a group of Travel Counsellors, who were on my team...a winning team , I may add, due to an in-house competition that was running in June and July. We travelled with Air Mauritius, the flight took just under 12 hours direct from London Heathrow.

Mauritius is a beautiful Island, wonderful white powder soft beaches, great for divers and snorkelling either on organised boat trips or from your beach hotel. Very lush and green outside the hotel complexes and resorts. We took a visit to the Tea Factory and sampled some vanilla tea whilst there. There are also great bargains to be had at Port Louis, the capital, where a trip to the local markets are a must, feel free to barter the prices down. The local people are very friendly and they speak predominently French and Creole, however English is widely spoken too.

With so many hotels to choose from, it is so important that I have now seen almost all 4 and 5 dtar deluxe properties and I am happy to recommend them personally to you. From a Mandara Spa Experience to a first class round of golf, Mauritius has plenty of activites for people who like to be on the go and for those who choose to chill and relax.

Mauritius is a wonderful destination for both couples and families alike - children are so very well looked after by attentive staff, they have their own space which is supervised and they also get taken out Beachcombing and exploring, this is a great learning experience for all ages.

Most Mauritian hotels organise weddings, and guarantee only 1 wedding per day. This is so important for couples planning to marry abroad....you do not feel like you are on a conveyor belt of brides !
