I hired a motorhome from Calgary and travelled through the rockies to Vancouver Island. Freedom itself, truely amazing. What a fantastic trip.
We stayed in Banff where it was cold, minus 2 degrees at 7am in the morning, by 1pm it was 24 degrees and sunny. We visited Lake Louise, had a drink in the famous Fairmont Chateau. We then went on to Revelstoke with its famous railway museum,travelled through Golden, which is now the home of the Kicking Horse Ski resort. Stopped at Chase where we parked on a RV site right by the river and did some Salmon Fishing (no luck). On the opposite side of the river was Indian land where we watched a black bear casualy taking a dip. Chase golf course is within walking distance,with shops and cafes about half a mile walk. From here we travelled to Okanagan Valley where the biggest and most central town is Kelowna, the Canadians go for their summer holidays, because of the amazing climate. From here we traveled on to Vancouver, where we boarded the ferry in North Vancouver and sailed with our motorhome to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. We travelled north to Port Alberni to spend 5 days Salmon fishing (out of luck again). The freedom of taking a motorhome is wonderful. You can please yourselves and come and go as you please. The sites are in abundance and each town has a visitor centre to direct you to where ever you need to be.
