This was my second experience in Tobago and I found it just as good, if not better than the first which was 10 years ago.

It is a peaceful quiet Caribbean Island about 20 years behind Barbados. The people are lovely and friendly and we made friends with lots of the local people. They will go out of their way to help you and tell you about their beautiful Island.

The majority of the Tobagan people live in the lower part of the Island from the capital Scarborough, down to Store Bay where the airport is situated. The northern section of the Island has some beautiful scenery, beaches and the rainforest.

We stayed at The Turtle Beach Hotel, a three star all inclusive property where the food is good and it has the largest swimming pool on the island. It's a great place to see the leatherback turtles as they come on to the beach each year between the months of March and July to lay their eggs.

The hotel has a "turtle watch" and offers you the option to be called day or night when the turtles are on the beach. It's such a spectacular sight and amazing to watch. Depending on when you visit, you may also be lucky enough to see the baby turtles hatch and return to the sea.

Car hire is a good way of seeing the Island at your own pace and driving is on the right hand side of the road.

While we there we also swam with Dolphins, snorkelled on the reef and bathed in the wonderful Caribbean Sea.
Nightlife is very low key and usually spent in the hotel of your choice, although there are some wonderful restaurants to visit offering great seafood and steaks.

Sunday night is the night for letting your hair down and taking a trip to Sunday School, which is a street party offering good food and music until the early hours, mixing with locals and other holiday makers. Most of the hotels can arrange this trip for you and it is definately one not to be missed.
